How does Coinstar® work?
Trading in your loose coins at Coinstar is easy. Just pour your coins into a machine and let us do the work.
- Choose one of our two convenient options: get cash, which has a 25p transaction fee and a 10.9% processing fee for cash transactions or charity which has a 8.9% fee. All fees may vary by location.
- Pour your coins into the tray, lift the handle, and guide your coins into the slot.
- Check the return tray for any rejected coins. When all your coins have been counted, you’ll receive a paper voucher for cash or if you chose charity, you’ll receive a receipt for your gift aid.
- If you chose the cash option, take your voucher to the cashier. Please be sure to redeem your cash voucher on the same day it was issued.

Are gift aids to charities tax deductible?
Yes, your donation is 100% deductible on your tax return and you can use your receipt in your tax documentation. There is also a gift aid form on the receipt that you can complete and return to the charity at the address provided. Gift aid increases the value of your donations and means charities can benefit even more at no extra cost to you. If you're a UK taxpayer, the charity can reclaim the basic rate of tax on your gift.
